Ontario’s latest EQAO results were released today, showing little overall improvement—especially in math—leaving parents anxious for their children:
Grade 3 Math Achievement Rate: 64%
Grade 6 Math Proficiency Rate: 51% (meaning nearly half failed)

Education Minister vow to blame him if results don’t improve.”
Education Minister Paul Calandra stated bluntly that he fully understands that if results don’t improve, parents will hold him accountable.

Beyond Math: What Else Is Tested
EQAO isn’t just about math:
Grades 3 & 6: Reading + Writing
Grade 10: Literacy Test (graduation requirement)
This means EQAO is a constant presence throughout students’ school years.
The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) is an independent provincial agency funded by the Government of Ontario. EQAO’s obligation is to conduct province-wide tests at key foundations in every student’s education and inform the results to educators, parents and the public. EQAO determines students’ current achievement in reading, writing, and mathematics in relation to the Ontario Education Curriculum expectations.
In fact, there are many private-sector preparation tutoring services for the EQAO. SprintMind offers EQAO Test preparation in 2025 / 2026 for all applicable students.
This provincial-wide review is genuinely promising—let’s hope it truly strengthens Ontario’s foundational education for all children.

Understanding the Ontario Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO)
The Ontario Education Quality and Accountability Office provides individual reports for every student who participates in assessments, and publishes test results for schools, school boards, and the province as a whole on its website. Individual schools and school boards also compile bespoke reports based on EQAO data, which are distributed to parents and community members. We collaborate with schools to produce EQAO data reports for release to parents and community members.
These assessment results not only enrich our understanding of current student learning but also serve as a vital tool for driving review and improvement at individual, school, board, and provincial levels. These outcomes can effectively enhance student learning through the following measures:
